Social work – the heart of public empathy

On World Social Work Day, 18 March, we realize how important people are and that we can live more easily if we help each other. The work of a social worker is not only a profession, but a mission and a vocation for people with a big heart, compassion and patience.

Caring for people is the heart of public empathy. A much-needed care in this fast-paced world where each of us spends only minutes on the many issues in our everyday lives. Let’s pause for a moment and pay respect to social work and the people who do it. These people are imbued with nobility and bear the meaning of our humanity.

The work and care of social workers, their professionalism and dedication to the most vulnerable Bulgarians is a heroic feat in the commercial paradigm in which our society is stubbornly moving.

This year’s World Social Work Day theme, set by the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), highlights a crucial topic: this theme recognizes that care and connections between generations are essential for the well-being of individuals, the cohesion of communities, and the prosperity of economies.
