class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The BSP is the party that has a very substantial contribution to Bulgaria being part of the European Union.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">A socialist<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">prime minister submitted the membership application in 1995.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">A<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> socialist president signed the treaty, and a socialist prime minister took the country into the European Union.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">W<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">e are a European party<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">we have never had a position against joining the euro. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">W<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">e continue to <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">be of the opinion<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> that Bulgaria&#8217;s accession to the eurozone is positive for the country.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">\u201c This was stated on BNT by the head of the Delegation of the Bulgarian Socialists in the European Parliament<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> and member of the Executive Bureau of the BSP <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Kristian Vigenin. He clarified that <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">joining the eurozone has no direct connection <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">with how <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">relations between the European Union and Russia, and respectively between Bulgaria and Russia, will develop.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>The euro referendum<\/h2><p class=\"s10\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">On the topic of the referendum on introducing the euro proposed by the president, Kristian Vigenin said: \u201eWe believe that the question, put in this way, does not comply with the constitutional norm and with the Constitutional Court&#8217;s ruling on the previous referendum request. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Because of this <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">we would not <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">support it<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">It is not about liking the question<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> &#8211; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">The Constitutional Court has ruled quite clearly<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">&#8211; <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">on whether there can be a referendum on the eurozone topic&#8221;.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">&#8220;If someone wants to stop the entry into the eurozone, if they want something more specific to be done, the way is not a referendum. Radev gave explanations that he does not want to stop Bulgaria&#8217;s entry into the eurozone. That is probably so. But we are still quite far along in this process, and such a sharp framing of <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">the topic<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> can send political signals that could affect the convergence report&#8221;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, the MEP and member of the Executive Bureau of the BSP warned. He recalled that<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">if there is political instability, that is not a good sign on Bulgaria&#8217;s path<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> to the eurozone and it could be an obstacle at the last moment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s11\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">&#8220;The BSP has never promised<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"><\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> a referendum in this direction. We have always said that we support joining the eurozone, when Bulgaria is ready&#8221;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">, Vigenin stressed, and added that clearer information is needed for people<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">&#8211; what the eurozone is and what lies ahead in the coming months. In his view people<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">come first and <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">must be certain about the measures the government <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">will<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> take, in order to guarantee in advance that speculation in prices will not be allowed<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> and that incomes will be protected<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"s12\"><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\">Kristian Vigenin finds the intentions of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to block all contracts for energy supplies from Russia, including for uranium, to be wrong. \u201eIf the conflict stops this year, what is the problem with returning to more normal relations with Russia? We do insist that the two<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> nuclear<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\"><span class=\"bumpedFont15\"> reactors that remain in Bulgaria find
