Kristian Vigenin in Gotse Delchev: Let us chart the path of change in the BSP together

Kristian Vigenin in Gotse Delchev: Let us chart the path of change in the BSP together

Bulgaria needs a strong left party that provides solutions for overcoming inequalities

„It is very important for me to meet and talk with you, the socialists of the Gotse Delchev area. For me the time when I was an MP for the region was a very active period of working together and left a very good feeling both politically and personally.“ This was stated by the Deputy Chair of the BSP and candidate for chair of the party Kristian Vigenin to the socialists and sympathisers who filled the hall of the House of Culture in Gotse Delchev.

„I would very much like us to carry the successful model of government in Gotse Delchev over to national level, as here there is a united and strong BSP organisation working in step with the mayor and the local administration. Young people are given a chance and there is continuity“, he said, highlighting the achievements of Mayor Vladimir Moskov, of the BSP regional chair Valeri Sarandev and of the socialists in the area, who hosted the meeting.

Running for BSP chair

„I decided to stand for chair of the BSP because the party is in a difficult situation. As someone who started from the lowest rung, I know the problems well and I am proposing concrete solutions on how to stabilise the BSP and make it stronger. Bulgaria needs this, because only a left party can impose a different approach in government and overcome the growing inequalities. A few super-rich and a huge majority who are poor, this is not the Bulgaria we want, we want a perspective for young people and for families. The BSP must be strong, and I believe I can make it so, with the help of every single socialist“, Kristian Vigenin pointed out to the Gotse Delchev socialists. In his view it is imperative first of all to close the contradictions within the party: „Only united can we move forward. It is no coincidence that the motto I follow in my conversations with socialists in the period before the election is For a strong BSP! Together!“

„My first steps in politics were in the youth organisation. I think I know what young people expect and I have proposals on how to deliver it. I intend to give young people a wider field to express themselves, to put their ideas into practice. The BSP needs active people who believe in ideals and who are not dependent. They must be the new face of the BSP, but with the support of people with experience. This bond makes our path forward successful and is the right formula for the party’s development“, the candidate for chair outlined another of his priorities. „The chair of the BSP must build a very clear mechanism for selecting and promoting staff. It has often happened that the selection is very subjective, with not the best but the most loyal to the leader being put forward“, he pointed out.

The congress and the unity of the left

Kristian Vigenin sees the party’s forthcoming congress as an opportunity to rethink the BSP’s approach and policies: „We must chart the path of change together, so that we can give Bulgaria the left solutions it needs, which will provide people with a better quality of life.“

The Deputy Chair of the BSP expects the unification of the left to develop. „Despite some problems that have arisen recently, BSP UNITED LEFT will acquire ever more substance in its actions and policies, because this is not a coalition for one election but a union for a long road. I believe every person on the left will see in it a reason to trust it“, Vigenin is convinced. He added that the jointly produced election platform 100 solutions for the accelerated development of Bulgaria is a good basis for future action.

Kristian Vigenin placed another important emphasis, that the BSP should achieve its goals in government, carry out its policies and come out of it stronger. He considers it extremely important that a periodic report should be made to the party on what has been done in power, and that distance should be kept from wrong decisions by the other parties in the government.

The socialists’ questions

The socialists met Kristian Vigenin’s messages with applause and asked many questions about national policy, the new government and the development of the BSP.

Kristian Vigenin explained to them that the BSP supports entry into the eurozone, but not hastily, rather when we are ready and there are clear guarantees that the economy will not suffer, that incomes will be protected and that people will not fall victim to profiteering and increased prices.

The lively meeting ended with a promise that the conversation would continue in the coming months.
