Kristian Vigenin: We are working for fewer regulations and easier financing for micro-enterprises
„In today’s challenging economic conditions, marked by inflation, digital transformation and market uncertainty, entrepreneurs are a particularly important sector of our economy. More than 5 million people in Europe are engaged in the direct selling sector, which makes it a key instrument for economic development and social inclusion.“ This was stated by the head of the Delegation of the Bulgarian Socialists in the European Parliament Kristian Vigenin to the participants in the conference of the European Direct Selling Association (Seldia), which was held in Brussels. In his address he highlighted the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises and the role of direct selling for economic growth and social sustainability.
Vigenin gave an example from Bulgaria: „The direct selling sector has proved itself an important economic driver. About 40% of entrepreneurs in our country are women, and many of them rely on direct selling as a means of additional income.“ He set out several key measures that can improve the business environment in Europe: „We are working for fewer regulations and easier financing for micro-enterprises. Of particular importance is the development of programmes to support self-employment, and training and initiatives for digital skills, marketing and business management.“
“The EU Competitiveness Compass is a key initiative aimed at reducing the administrative burden and creating a more favourable business environment. By reducing regulatory costs for companies and supporting digital transformation and access to finance, this initiative will make it easier for small and medium-sized business to develop, encouraging innovation and economic growth“, he pointed out to the conference participants. In his view, building a sustainable economy requires cooperation between the institutions, business and entrepreneurs themselves. „Only with the right policies and support can Europe become an even better place for innovation and growth“, Kristian Vigenin noted.
The head of the Delegation of the Bulgarian Socialists in the European Parliament held a conversation with the chair of the Bulgarian association that is a member of Seldia, Polina Al-Bitar, who spoke about the legislative obstacles to the development of the direct selling sector in Bulgaria. It was agreed to hold a meeting in Sofia together with members of parliament from the relevant committees in order to discuss the possible solutions at national level.
