Vigenin in Kyustendil: A council of the BSP mayors and municipal councillors should provide solutions to the real problems
„We need to strengthen the interaction with the BSP representatives in local government. This could be a council or a network of the mayors and municipal councillors, who know the problems very well and have the resources to propose workable solutions to the government and parliament. That way we will help them to deliver on their commitments to citizens, and they will also help the BSP to shape feasible and realistic policies for people.“ This was stated by the Deputy Chair of the BSP and candidate for chair of the party Kristian Vigenin at a meeting with socialists in Kyustendil. He also recalled his idea of creating a council of the BSP regional chairs, who would be active participants in taking decisions in the party: „First let people be heard and then let the decisions be taken.“ In his view the future Executive Bureau of the BSP should include ministers, members of parliament, representatives of local government and of the party’s unions, of the women, of the young people and of the veterans. That way maximum representation will be achieved, guaranteeing that all opinions in the party are taken into account. „The place where decisions are taken must return to the BSP, to its collective bodies“, he argued.
„I have an idea to create a project-based fund in the BSP, from which initiatives of the local party structures could be financed. This is a way to encourage activity in the party“, Kristian Vigenin proposed, putting forward another of his ideas. He warned that large donors to the BSP should be avoided, because this creates a dangerous dependence in future political action. „There are modern and effective methods of raising donations. It is not difficult to organise a system for supporting the BSP through text messages or through the party website“, he proposed.
Solutions based on experience
Kristian Vigenin pointed out that all the changes he proposes are prompted by his desire to help the BSP become stronger and to make the voice of the socialists heard more clearly and more loudly in society. „We need a clear plan, we must put our party in order“, he commented.
„In terms of ideas the BSP must get into the rhythm of the times we live in. Everything we decide and aim for must be concrete enough, so that afterwards the delegates and the socialists can demand results from the future chair and leadership“, the candidate for chair of the party believes.
„I am proposing not merely theoretical propositions but solutions prompted by my experience. I have the knowledge and the energy to take the party to another level. The BSP needs a person who can organise peace in the party. I have proved that I can close the rifts and unite people around causes“, this is how Kristian Vigenin explained his motivation for entering the race for chair of the BSP.
