Bulgaria has to develop its industry and infrastructure in the new European defence framework

Kristian Vigenin took part in an interparliamentary meeting on the topic "The future of European defence" in Brussels.

Bulgarian MEP Kristian Vigenin from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament took part in an interparliamentary meeting on the topic “The future of European defence” in Brussels. It was attended by members of the security and defence committees of the EP and of the parliaments of the EU member states. Special guests at the event were the President of the EP Roberta Metsola and the Commissioner for Defence Andrius Kubilius.

“Bulgaria has to take a pragmatic approach and make use of the opportunities being created at the moment, both for the Bulgarian military industry and for delivering delayed infrastructure projects: roads, airports, ports, logistics centres and cyber systems. Our country has to be an active participant in building the European defence architecture, with clear priorities, strong partnerships and the ambition to attract investment and achieve technological renewal,” Vigenin commented after the meeting.

With his participation in this forum Kristian Vigenin set out the need for Bulgaria to work actively to attract investment, to develop its industrial potential and to make the most of the new opportunities the European Union is opening up in the field of security and defence.
