The BSP audit commission visited Brussels at Kristian Vigenin's invitation

The BSP’s all-party audit commission, together with representatives of the youth union and the three winners of the literary competition marking 140 years since the Unification, visited the European Parliament in Brussels at the invitation of the head of the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists in the EP, Kristian Vigenin. The aim of the visit was for the participants to get a close look at the work of the European Parliament, the mechanism for adopting laws, and the history and development of the European Union.

During the visit the group toured the European Parliament building and learned about the organisation of plenary work, the work of the parliamentary committees and the decision-making mechanisms. The participants also gained a broader idea of the historical development of the institution and the shaping of European policies.

Kristian Vigenin held a discussion with the guests, in which he presented his work in the European Parliament, the main priorities he defends and his vision for Bulgaria’s role in the EU. The conversation turned into an active exchange of questions and opinions, with particular interest in the topics of social policy, education, enlargement of the Union and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy.

The group also met the spokesperson of the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria to the EU, Dimitar Yaprakov. The conversation covered current topics such as Bulgaria’s membership of the euro area, the country’s positions on China and the Republic of North Macedonia, and the current challenges facing European policy. The Representation also shared specific examples from its work defending Bulgarian interests in the EU.

The visit left strong impressions on the participants and enriched their understanding of European processes, institutions and the political challenges ahead.
