Bulgarian MEP from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament Kristian Vigenin and the director of the St Ivan Rilski state psychiatric hospital Dr Tsveteslava Galabova are organising a conference on the topic: “Mental health and social care in the EU and Bulgaria, legal, ethical and social aspects”. The event will take place on 10 October 2025, from 1 pm, at the Grand Hotel Sofia, Sofia hall, in Sofia.

The conference participants

The conference will bring together for discussion leading specialists in the field of psychiatry and psychology, experts in public health and social policy, lawyers and representatives of the legislative and the executive branch. Among the topics that will be discussed are the state of mental health and social care in Bulgaria and the European experience, as well as the possibilities for integrating good practices into the healthcare system in Bulgaria. The forum aims to set out concrete ways to improve mental health care and to improve social support for people with mental disorders.

Journalists are invited to attend throughout the discussion.
