Kristian Vigenin with a commitment to solving the problems of rose growers

The head of the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists Kristian Vigenin joined the rose harvest in the village of Kliment, Karlovo region, at the invitation of the BSP Karlovo chair Veska Nencheva.

“The magic of the Bulgarian oil-bearing rose cannot be described, it has to be felt,” was how the MEP emotionally commented on his taking part in the picking of the rose blossom. “The topic of Bulgarian rose oil will become current again in two or three years in the European Parliament, when we will once again have to fight for essential oils not to be treated as chemical products“, Kristian Vigenin said. He set out the important problems in the sector that urgently need solving: ​​​​ low purchase prices, which have not been updated for several years; the lack of specific support for rose growers;​ ​ the growing shortage of labour during the rose harvest period; insufficient control over imports of rose oil from abroad, which unscrupulous traders mix with Bulgarian oil and thus worsen the characteristics of oil exported as produced in Bulgaria.
