Kristian Vigenin: The Yambol hospital will be the first new state hospital since 1989
BSP has to build a clearer image as a party in government
“BSP has to build a clearer image as a party in government. Taking part in the government is a chance to raise the role of BSP as a party that uses every opportunity to raise the questions that matter to people. That is why I work actively, in good coordination and in the same direction as the executive, on the issues currently being decided in the European Parliament.” This was said by the head of the Delegation of Bulgarian Socialists in the EP and member of the BSP Executive Bureau Kristian Vigenin at a meeting with the BSP party activists from the Yambol region. The Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova also took part in it.
The MEP commented on the postponed report on North Macedonia in the European Parliament, pointing out that regardless of the scandals, the topic is an example of how the National Assembly managed to adopt a unanimous decision on a question important for Bulgaria. “We managed to do the same in the European Parliament, which really is unprecedented. All seventeen MEPs signed a letter to the president of the European Parliament and to the chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs regarding the report on the Republic of North Macedonia, and so it was postponed. We defended our national interest and the principles and rules of the European Union for membership of the community,” he commented.
Kristian Vigenin said that on the important questions now being decided by the European Parliament he holds meetings with Bulgarian ministers and professional communities, in order to reach the best solution for the country. For example, to achieve higher quality in healthcare the MEP uses the opportunities he has as a member of the Committee on Public Health in the European Parliament.
A visit to the hospital in Yambol
Together with the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova and three members of parliament from the Yambol region, Kristian Vigenin visited the new hospital complex of the St Panteleimon hospital in Yambol, whose construction he helped along as a member of parliament from the region. “The Yambol hospital will be the first new state hospital since 1989 and we need to make more effort so that people in the region have access to quality, modern healthcare. As a member of parliament I had the chance to be part of the process of carrying out the project. Now, as an MEP, I will continue to follow its delivery closely, because this is an investment not only in infrastructure but also in the health and security of the people in the region.”
The director of the hospital Dr Panayot Dimanov explained the problems around finishing the complex and putting it into operation. It was to house an Emergency Medical Care Centre and an emergency department at the St Panteleimon hospital, as part of the large investment project “Support for the development of the emergency medical care system”, but because of duplicated activities and imprecise design their construction is being delayed. Dr Dimanov said political will is needed to solve the problem and asked for help. Kristian Vigenin commented that the new hospital complex of the St Panteleimon hospital in Yambol can also be presented as part of EU preparations in the field of security, because health infrastructure is an essential element of it.
The Varbova Svirka Sviri festival
Kristian Vigenin was a guest at the 25th anniversary edition of the childrens folklore festival “Varbova Svirka Sviri”, organised by Bolyarovo municipality. The Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova and deputy prime minister Atanas Zafirov were also guests of the festival. Vigenin also visited the village fair in Boyanovo.
