Kristian Vigenin: I am optimistic that at these elections we will achieve a better result
Veliko Tarnovo is the cradle of socialism, which is why the conversation about the role of BSP, UNITED LEFT is timely and exactly in the right place, the socialist said
The first political discussion club in the country, Dimitar Blagoev, Nikola Gabrovski, held a session at which a special position was adopted in support of BSP, United Left and of the consolidation of the left in Bulgaria that has begun. The club, created back in the 1990s at the socialists’ municipal party organisation, discussed the topic „BSP, UNITED LEFT, a guarantor of accelerated and fair development for Bulgaria“. The conversation was opened by the club’s chair Assoc. Prof. Rosen Petkov, and the official guest was the Deputy Chair of the BSP and MEP Kristian Vigenin.
„I am optimistic that at these elections we will achieve a better result. This is vital for Bulgaria, so that Bulgarians can feel that there is a real left alternative, that something different has happened in Bulgaria against the background of all this hopelessness that Bulgarian politics has radiated in recent years, of all this chaos and disintegration, of the attempt by the oligarchy to take over the state“, Vigenin said to everyone.
Taking part in the discussion were the leader of list number 28 in the region Mariana Boyadzhieva and the candidates for parliament Georgi Filipov, Prof. Sevdalina Dimitrova, Yordan Neykov, Daniela Davidkova, Dimana Angelova, Mario Ivanov, Tihomir Todorov, Stoil Georgiev and Iliyan Kolev. The BSP municipal chair in Veliko Tarnovo Mihail Mihalev and the regional coordinator of The Left Krasimir Radov also joined the conversation.
The discussion was honoured by the municipal councillors Yordan Svrakov and Irena Stasinopulu, the chair of the Movement of Veterans in the BSP Atanas Atanasov, the chair of the Union of Socialist Women Lidia Prokopova, the chair of the Fatherland Union Elena Machkovska, the chair of the Democratic Union of Women Zhelka Deneva, the mayor of Vodoley Milen Mirchev, and public figures, historians and champions of the left idea.
Opening words for the discussion were delivered by Assoc. Prof. Margarita Kemalova, who is part of the club’s leadership. „The Socialist Party has been through a number of crises over the years, but experience shows that when the pressure comes from outside, from our opponents, the consolidation of the party with its natural partners gives good results. It is important to appreciate and support the unity and the constructive approach of the BSP and the other parties“, Assoc. Prof. Kemalova said.
Kristian Vigenin welcomed the holding of the club’s session and stressed that Veliko Tarnovo is the cradle of socialism, which is why such a discussion is timely and exactly in the right place.
His words were supported by the leader of the list Mariana Boyadzhieva, who presented all the candidates for parliament. She shared with those present that the programme of 100 steps for the accelerated development of Bulgaria is being received positively by people, and called on more voters to support BSP, UNITED LEFT on 27 October.
„What the BSP and the left parties did is a sign to our society that there is another dimension. That besides division there can also be union. With patience and tact a decision was reached that is important for the left parties and for the whole of Bulgaria. In this way we made it possible for a real left alternative to be worked out“, Mariana Boyadzhieva said to everyone.
In keeping with what she said, it was proposed that after the elections Veliko Tarnovo should host a national discussion on consolidating the left and achieving an even more lasting union. On a proposal from the leadership of the discussion club, a message and an appeal for support for BSP, UNITED LEFT were adopted.
