The Euroconverter, initiated by Kristian Vigenin, is becoming increasingly popular
The application has already 25 thousand users, its convenience in calculating the amounts in both BGN and EUR at the official rate is appreciated by both customers and merchants.
“The changeover to the euro is inevitably associated with inconveniences and the first months will be the most problematic. Sometimes simple and practical solutions give more certainty and peace of mind, such as the euro converter we created. Especially now, when both currencies are used and the change is in euros, the app, which includes both a converter and a calculator, is a serious relief.” said Bulgarian MEP from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament Kristian Vigenin in the first days after the introduction of the single European currency.
How EuroConverter works
Following the idea of the MEP, in June 2025 young Bulgarian programmers created the mobile application “EuroConverter ” – a free and easy-to-use tool for fast and accurate conversion between Bulgarian lev and euro. The app helps citizens, businesses and tourists in the transition period and makes everyday calculations practically easier.
EuroConverter works with the fixed exchange rate set by the ECB and the BNB – 1 euro = 1.95583 leva, has an intuitive interface and can be used offline. It is also accessible for people with lower digital literacy and offers two modes of operation – converter and calculator.
Growing interest in the app
Interest in the application is growing significantly, especially in the current transition period of the introduction of the euro. To date,EuroConverter is used by over 25,000 people in both the Android and iOS versions. At the end of last year and in the first days of the new year, downloads averaged 1,000 per day.
The strong increase in withdrawals at the end of December and the beginning of January shows that citizens are actively looking for reliable tools to navigate the conversion of lev to euro.
The EuroConverter app is available for free download from Google Play and App Store and continues to be one of the most practical helpers for Bulgarians in the early days of the euro.
