Vigenin from Gotse Delchev: The BSP is coming back as a strong left alternative

Vigenin from Gotse Delchev: The BSP is coming back as a strong left alternative

The MEP described the "BSP - United Left" coalition, number 5 on the ballot, as the only one with a clear left programme and messages

“”BSP – United Left” stands out with a clear vision for social justice and sustainable development, and the party is already restoring its role as a strong left alternative.” This was stated by Bulgarian MEP Kristian Vigenin from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament during a meeting with party activists and supporters in Gotse Delchev, part of the left’s election campaign in the Blagoevgrad region.

Vigenin expressed support for the leader of the list Gergana Ormanlieva and the candidates from the municipalities of Bansko, Satovcha, Garmen and Hadzhidimovo, stressing the importance of the region for the party. “The BSP has found its path and is coming back to people with clear solutions and responsibility towards society,” he said.

Peace, stability and social inequalities

The meeting discussed current topics such as the need for peace and stability, the deepening social inequalities and the role of the state in overcoming them. “With all its policies the BSP strives for justice in all its dimensions and for ways to protect people in conditions of uncertainty,” Vigenin pointed out. He also emphasised the need to curb the oligarchic model in Bulgaria: “The oligarchy undermines citizens’ trust and holds back the development of the country. This is a model that has to be overcome.”

Support for the list leader

Vigenin praised the leader of the list in the region. “Gergana Ormanlieva has the necessary expertise and I am sure she will actively stand up for social policy in the next parliament,” he stressed. The participants in the meeting asked questions and took an active part in the topics under discussion.

“For me every visit to this part of Bulgaria is an honour. We have fought many battles together and I am convinced that we will come out stronger this time too,” Vigenin said. In his view the upcoming elections are key not only for the political parties, but also for the direction in which the country develops. “What is at stake is the future of Bulgaria as a social and just state,” he concluded.
