Kristian Vigenin and Gabriel Valkov supported a civic appeal for humane animal husbandry and treatment of animals

How the raising of animals and the treatment of pets can be made more humane, these were the commitments taken on by the Deputy Chair of the BSP and MEP Kristian Vigenin and the leader of the BSP, UNITED LEFT list in the 23rd constituency, Sofia, Gabriel Valkov before the civic organisation Invisible Animals. The meeting was on the initiative of Stefan Dimitrov from the organisation, and representatives of the Youth Union of the BSP also joined it.

Invisible Animals raised the problem of raising calves in cages that are too small and make the life and development of the young animals difficult. They are concerned by the questions of inhumane treatment of domestic animals and by the damage that poor conditions on mink farms cause to the animals themselves, to the environment and to people.

Kristian Vigenin and Gabriel Valkov undertook to request information and to insist on clear legislative rules on the problems raised. The leader of the BSP, UNITED LEFT list in the 23rd constituency, Sofia, Gabriel Valkov, as a future national MP, promised to seek possibilities for a solution from the National Assembly and advised the representative of Invisible Animals to seek the cooperation of livestock farmers as well. Kristian Vigenin will raise in the European Parliament the problems of the humane keeping of domestic animals and the keeping of animals in cages. In his view clearer rules and control are needed for the cage rearing of animals in industry.
